What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is an event where people who are interesting in computer programming can work together on software. Many hackathons have a particular purpose or aim in mind. This aim can relate to equity, social justice, or other current events.
What is SpenceHacks?
SpenceHacks will be a hackathon hosted by the Spence School in New York City. A student participating in SpenceHacks 2020 will pick a U.N. Sustainable Development goal and then create a project which they think can best further that goal.
When is SpenceHacks?
SpenceHacks will be held on October 17th, 2020.
What are the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals?
The U.N. Sustainable Development Goals are a set of objectives surrounding human and environmental issues. Learn more about the SDGs on our page about them!

How do I sign up?
You can sign up through our website. Click the Sign Up button on our homepage.
What if I’m a beginner?
People of all levels of coding experience are welcome at SpenceHacks. We will have workshops not only for advanced coders but also for interested beginners.
Do I need to have a finished project at the end?
We would prefer that you have a finished project. Of course, if you don’t have enough time to finish, that’s completely fine.
What should I bring?
If you own a laptop, please bring yours. We will also be providing computers.
Do I need a team?
You do not need a team, but remember that SpenceHacks is a great opportunity to connect with people from around the city who have similar interests to you. We hope that you make friends here!
